Trout fishing…

“Rainbow” Trout that is. Chicago sports fans may remember left handed pitcher Steve “Rainbow” Trout, formerly of the White Sox and Chicago Cubs and who also played later in his 12 year major league career with the Yankees and Mariners. As a life long Cubs baseball fan, I remember Rainbow Trout as a key memberContinue Reading

Anyone see October?

Wow, talk about a month flying by quickly! REALLY having a hard time wrapping my head around it being November 1 already. Finally after a month of being home and getting a little R&R, facilitating Megan’s Sweet 16 birthday party (encompassing four days including a waterpark trip to Sandusky, OH), and Halloween– I am tryingContinue Reading

Winter returns

Wow! Starting to feel like NW Ontario around here lately….no, not that cold but crazy weather swings in very short time. Just a week ago, it was 60 degrees, raining hard, and all the ice and snow in the area was gone. Less than a week later we have more snow on the ground thanContinue Reading

Almost Spring and Shows are Over!

Which is a great feeling on both accounts to be honest. Really looking forward to the arrival of Spring and some warmer temps and it’s good to have the show season for another year behind us. We generated a little extra business from each show we attended this year so we are looking forward toContinue Reading

One day at a time….

I guess that’s how everyone with opening week bookings is taking it right now. For that matter so are we. Fortunately temperatures are trending upwards for the Perrault Falls area, but there is still a lot of work for mother nature to do as local reports still indicate over a foot of snow on theContinue Reading

Week 4 in the books….

…and what a week it was! Without question the best fishing week so far of our 2013 season. The guys in week 3 sure had it right when they kept saying: “next week things are really going to take off here”.We have been extremely busy here in camp taking care of guests, which has leftContinue Reading

Busy times at camp….

As we wrapped up the month of June and head into July, we have remained very busy here in camp. All of the girls are here now (except Sara) who will be joining us later this month once her Mom returns from a two week military related assignment. Fortunately (for them) most of the firstContinue Reading

Great season at the half way point!

It’s been a another great (half) season here at camp this summer. We have had some great weather this summer (not too hot), with lot’s of sunshine and just enough wind on most days to create a good “walleye chop” on the water. Fishing in July has been very good overall too which always helpsContinue Reading

Weather cools down….Fishing HEATS up!

The recent string of unseasonably cool weather (highs in the upper 60’s to mid 70’s), in addition to being very pleasant for working and sleeping at night, has also resulted in the lake water temperatures dropping about 8 degrees from it’s July high temp of around 75 degrees. With the cooling water fishing has beenContinue Reading

Peffley's Wilderness Camp is a family owned and operated camp. Dave has been fishing Wabaskang Lake for over 25 years and was previously a guest of this camp for 12 years prior to purchasing the camp in 2005. I am a proud supporter of our military and offer a nice discount during the month of July to our guests who have also served. I have three daughters ranging in ages from 16-21 who spend much of their summer with us in camp and have totally embraced the wilderness experience we offer. They have for years referred to it as the "best summer experience ever".

While rarely necessary on our lake, because I do have a very good working knowledge on how and where to fish on Wabaskang Lake and our portage waters, I will guide groups if asked to. Otherwise, I am always happy to share information with our guests and provide them well marked lake maps so they can start catching fish their first day in camp.

I pride myself on running a very clean and well managed camp with your satisfaction our top priority. Many guests who have fished from this camp for over 20 years, and several more that have fished here for over 30 years and even some over 40 years.
