August is rockin’

Wow! What a start to the month, as the first week of August produced some absolutely fantastic fishing for all species except lake trout which no one targeted. The walleye have definitely put the feed bags on as it was pretty much an all day feed with big numbers of good sized 16-18″ eater walleyesContinue Reading

Weather warming up…Fishing still HOT!

As we start into the second half of August, it appears summer is trying to make a comeback. After spending the second half of July and early August struggling to get out of the 60’s and 70’s this week’s forecast highs are back into the 80’s possibly approaching 90. Regardless of the air temperatures, theContinue Reading

Summer revisits…..

Well as predicted, summer has in fact returned to NW Ontario. Last Tuesday, the mercury hit 95 degrees here in camp and most of this week has dealt us a dead calm lake with temps in the mid to upper 80’s with high humidity. Tough fishing conditions in terms of comfort, but still well worthContinue Reading

Another memorable season

The 2013 season (our ninth), will be as many guests heard me say repeatedly during the season, one that will always be easy to remember. Starting with a last minute helicopter ride into camp as a result of a very late ice out, and enough drama and adversity to keep things interesting all season long,Continue Reading

Happy Thanksgiving!

With Thanksgiving just a few short days away and still plenty of preparation ahead, I thought I would get a quick blog entry done. The fall season here has been busy with a steady stream of contractors in to complete the damage done to our home during the storms of summer. We are so happyContinue Reading

Happy Canada Day!

Perhaps it is hard to believe that July is here for you also? I know for us it certainly is. The month of June flew by as it usually does, and I apologize for the lack of updates but to be honest I find it much easier to post some info on our Facebook pageContinue Reading

Water levels receding and warming up

After several weeks of watching the lake level begin to fall, only to have it rain and start all over again, we have finally in the last 2 weeks, seen the lake level consistently start to drop. It has been much drier and warmer over the period, which also has our surface water temps backContinue Reading

Pre-Christmas Activities

Christmas time is always such a busy time of the year with all the shopping, wrapping, holiday parties, kids’ Christmas plays, concerts etc. Plenty to keep you busy for sure! Sara just had her 5th grade Christmas concert on Friday and wrapped up a volleyball tournament over the weekend. Allison earlier in the week hadContinue Reading

Peffley's Wilderness Camp is a family owned and operated camp. Dave has been fishing Wabaskang Lake for over 25 years and was previously a guest of this camp for 12 years prior to purchasing the camp in 2005. I am a proud supporter of our military and offer a nice discount during the month of July to our guests who have also served. I have three daughters ranging in ages from 16-21 who spend much of their summer with us in camp and have totally embraced the wilderness experience we offer. They have for years referred to it as the "best summer experience ever".

While rarely necessary on our lake, because I do have a very good working knowledge on how and where to fish on Wabaskang Lake and our portage waters, I will guide groups if asked to. Otherwise, I am always happy to share information with our guests and provide them well marked lake maps so they can start catching fish their first day in camp.

I pride myself on running a very clean and well managed camp with your satisfaction our top priority. Many guests who have fished from this camp for over 20 years, and several more that have fished here for over 30 years and even some over 40 years.
