Oh Canada! More than just fishing…

DeJong & Pinegar Aug 2008 013As the sport show season for another year comes to an end for us, it reminds me of a question that sometimes comes up as we are on the road: “So just what is it that makes Canada so special?” Of course, the answer(s) may vary widely from person to person, but for us the answer often goes something along these lines.
DSC_0210 (1)Unspoiled shoreline, wildlife and shore lunches, are just a few of the factors that make you say “Oh Canada!”
Dauner Fishing Trip - 2008 017
It’s always easy to start with the fishing, as yes, for many freshwater fishermen it may very well be the best fishing they ever experience in their lifetimes. But what many people don’t realize is that the experience actually goes well beyond JUST the fishing. The experience is enhanced exponentially when you add factors such as: 1) The seemingly endless miles of shoreline that remain untouched by the hand of man 2)The incredible scenery and wildlife viewing opportunities that even pictures will not do justice
3)The soul-soothing nature of the peaceful serenity of your setting
(IMAGINE-no skiers or any other PWC’s OR like in our setting not even any cars or RR tracks ) 4)The incredible memories of an authentic Canadian shore lunch with freshly caught, delicious walleye, northern pike, perch etc. These are just a few of what could be a truly endless list.

Regardless of the reasons that make it special for you-we are looking forward to another season filled with wonderful memories and great times in camp filled with laughter, stories and lot’s of fish tails and fish tales!

Both Sides Now-Judy Collins view of clouds

These were the coolest looking clouds I think I have ever seen and reminded me of the immortal Judy Collins tune…. Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air And feather canyons everywhere, I’ve looked at clouds that way But now they only block the sun they rain and snowContinue Reading

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Sorry I meant to get this posted yesterday but it just didn’t happen! From our family to yours–Best wishes for a very Merry Christmas (season) and the happiest of New Years! Posted by Dave & Milissa at 10:54 AM

Great season at the half way point!

It’s been a another great (half) season here at camp this summer. We have had some great weather this summer (not too hot), with lot’s of sunshine and just enough wind on most days to create a good “walleye chop” on the water. Fishing in July has been very good overall too which always helpsContinue Reading

Peffley's Wilderness Camp is a family owned and operated camp. Dave has been fishing Wabaskang Lake for over 25 years and was previously a guest of this camp for 12 years prior to purchasing the camp in 2005. I am a proud supporter of our military and offer a nice discount during the month of July to our guests who have also served. I have three daughters ranging in ages from 16-21 who spend much of their summer with us in camp and have totally embraced the wilderness experience we offer. They have for years referred to it as the "best summer experience ever".

While rarely necessary on our lake, because I do have a very good working knowledge on how and where to fish on Wabaskang Lake and our portage waters, I will guide groups if asked to. Otherwise, I am always happy to share information with our guests and provide them well marked lake maps so they can start catching fish their first day in camp.

I pride myself on running a very clean and well managed camp with your satisfaction our top priority. Many guests who have fished from this camp for over 20 years, and several more that have fished here for over 30 years and even some over 40 years.
