I will soon be “blogging” from camp, but for now still at home getting ready to celebrate Allison’s eighth birthday with a skating party this weekend. Looks like a pretty decent weather forecast and with some lower water levels (at least for now) this will be a good time to get some ADDITIONAL projects in camp around the dock area done before camp opens. It won’t be long and we’ll be Gone Fishing!
If you haven’t done any advance prep yet for your trip this year, this is a great time for little “projects” like: tackle box organization, fresh line on your reels, a double check of rod guides, new batteries for the fishfinder, some reel lube, locating the passport and outdoors card etc. If your anything like me, this stuff always waits to the last moment and then I regret it. A little advance prep always pays off when the fishing trip finally arrives.
Also and FYI, we have been notified by the MNR that most of NW Ontario is already under a burn restriction (no open fires). So if you are coming up early in the season and like to shore lunch over an open camp fire, you may need to plan to bring a cookstove instead. We will try to keep you up to date on this as conditions change.
Looking forward to another great season in camp with our many friends and regular guests and also meeting new friends who are making their first trip to our camp this summer.
Until then, take care and see you soon!
Dave
